Run Command

The botbox run command executes your Discord bot using the generated run.sh script.

Usage

sh
botbox run

What It Does

  • Finds your project root by locating botbox.conf
  • Executes run.sh from that directory
  • Waits for the bot process to exit, then prints everything it wrote to stdout and stderr
📝 NOTE
Output is printed after the process ends rather than streamed while the bot runs, so for day to day development run ./run.sh directly and watch the output live. Either way your logs are written to logs/bot.log.

Generated Run Script

The run.sh script created by create and init is marked executable and comes in two forms.

#!/bin/bash
python3 src/main.py

Requirements

  • Must be run from inside a BotBox project directory
  • Requires the run.sh script generated by create or init
  • Bot token must be configured in .env or Doppler
  • Python dependencies installed with python3 -m pip install -r requirements.txt
